Schmidt practices mainly in the areas of estate planning and administration, real estate, and other probate matters. He attended The University of Cincinnati, studying Chemical Engineering. He graduated from The University of Toledo (BA 1970, JD 1974). He is admitted to practice in Ohio and Michigan, the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Ohio, the Eastern District of Michigan and the United States Supreme Court. He is or has been an active member of the Toledo Bar Association (Probate, Trust, and Estate Planning Committee and its program chairman), the Ohio State Bar Association (Probate and Trust Law Section), and the Michigan Bar Association (Probate and Estate Planning Section). Mr. Schmidt has been an author and lecturer for the National Business Institute, Inc. on various topics concerning trust and probate issues. He is also a member of the Toledo Board of Realtors, the Ohio and National Association of Realtors, Sports Car Club of America (Chairman of the National Solo Events Board and member of the National Solo Safety Committee), The University of Toledo Alumni Association, and is Chancellor for St. Timothy Episcopal Church.
