Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Hello Sir,

My father is getting huge money from people for buying lottery tickets for high interest and every time I have to pay him for the money he owed. I made a statement to him that I will not be responsible for the money which he owed for gambling. How do I approach this legally? As I am not in India is it possible I can do anything from outside India?

Thanks,

Sabaresh

Dear Sir

Legally, you are not responsible for the act of your father. However, to be on the safer side, you can give a public notice, that you no way concerned with the act or transaction your father enter into, and that public may enter any such transaction upon their own risk, without any involvement or liability of your's.

Such public notice's are often by people, in many cases, and you can also give such notice. No harm. This will protect you. Otherwise, you cannot go and sign any contract with every person your father is indebted to, nor any such person will even sign any such contract. Rather, they would want you be involved for their safety.

Additionally, you did not mention, if you have any joint property with your father. if yes. then u need to settle that issue also and get partition.

I believe issue of public notice is best for you.

Should you require any assistance, then feel free to contact me.
