Legal Question in Family Law in India

Hello , I got engaged with girl . After engagement we started talking on phone . she was talking very badly with me as i was not expected like this . she was telling that she was about to do suicide because of she was not getting married before this marriage is fixed. she always talk about suicide that she was willing to do. i got tensed . i decided to cancel marriage with that girl . and i told with my parent . my parent told this matter with girls parent . but now her parent are not ready to cancel marriage . they are forcing on me and my parent and saying that they will beat me and my parent . we are not yet married . we just engaged . i completely became helpless . because i can not spend my life with such girl . please help me so there should not any fight between family and marriage should not happen.

You may refuse to marry. If you are comfortable, consider writing a letter by your family to the girl family giving reasons for refusal. Also, your family should return all that has been received at engagement ceremony.
