Legal Question in Family Law in India

I got married in 1998 in a catholic church. was constantly abused, beaten and thrown out of the house numerous times throughout my married life, and especially initially while I was a housewife. once I started working, in december 2005 I left my husband's house, after being brutally beaten on the road in front of the house in full view of the neighbours. I had filed police complaints many times, but they always made him write a letter apologising and they asked him to refrain being in touch with me. however, he used the excuse of my children to find my house and would constantly harass me. I had to shift many times because of this. during this time I tried many times to make the marriage work. but the violence and abuse never stopped. I even took my sons and ran away from Bangalore in 2009 after a threat on my life. I sent a letter to the police and his employer explaining that I had taken the step due to the violence and threat on my life. when I returned to Bangalore he somehow found out where I was and would come around while I would be at work. I once again tried making things work. but no avail. in July 2011, he again threw me out of the house, and every time, he'd do it late at night. he would always be drunk. we have not been intimate since 2003. he has no idea where I currently live. and I don't want him to get this into either. however, today I received an SMS saying he want to send divorce notice and is asking for my address. can I get him to send to me via email? what will happen if I ignore all notices? will the divorce still be granted? my children are with him, and he has a govt job while I currently unemployed.
