Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Trinidad and Tobago

My Dad passed away since 2008, I am currently waiting five years now for my lawyer to get my letters of administration. Now my lawyer is telling me he needs my marriage certificate because it's a query. I am feeling like my lawyer has forgotten about me. Could this really be taking so long? How can I find out what is going on for myself?

If you are a married woman and has adopted your husband's surname you need to provide your marriage certificate (now the electronic original) to support your application. If you do not nothing will happen until you do. The delay is now yours. Please comply.

What you can do is to find out if there are other queries and try to provide the necessary replies. Work along with your Attorney-at-Law.

You can go to the probate section, Hall of Justice, Knox Street, Port-of-Spain and request an update on your application.

You need the file number of the application or walk with a copy of your dad's death certificate.
