Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

I am seventeen and currently carrying the child of a twenty-four year old. We are no longer together and I was curious if I could pursue him in civil and family court for child support as well as custody without criminal charges being brought unto him. It was completely consensual and I nor my parents plan to pursue him in any way. I am willing to defend him in any way to keep my child's father from going to jail or being registered as a sex offender.

Yes, you can and should go to court, establish legally that he is the father. You would then petition the court to compel him to pay child support. He would be able to see the child regularly. In the alternative, you may wish to consider having him terminate his parental rights. You would not get any help from him in supporting the child. At the same time, you would not have to deal with him for the rest of your life. See an attorney
