Legal Question in Family Law in Alaska

I'm 17 years old and want to take a restraining order out on my mother's boyfriend who is living with us. He is verbally abusive toward me and my two sister's and my mom doesn't do much about the abuse. This is a recurring problem. I've asked her multiple times to kick him out of our house. She doesn't do much, just blows the problem off and tries to patch things up but it always happens again. I'm afraid if I take the restraining order out it'll just backfire and get my sister's and I taken away from our mom.

What do you mean by "verbally abusive"?

It doesn't appear that verbal abuse qualifies as "domestic violence" under the domestic violence statutes (AS 18.66.100 et seq.), but if you will be more specific I can tell you for sure.
