Any attorney will say verbal contracts are treated the same at law regardless of the parties being related. Of course if one of the family members is under legal age, they lack capacity to enter into any contract. Consult with a good business attorney in your area for specific advice in this situation.

Oral agreements can be enforced, however, you must be able to prove what was agreed. This would be true with regard to the sale of a business or other contracts.
