Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

My roommate (Ex-girlfriend) removed a game console from the common area that she had given to me for Christmas, She claims that she is the rightful owner of it as she is still paying for it on her credit cards. It was a gift to me so shouldn't it still be my property? We still live in the same house but as the item has been moved out of the common space and into a locked room, to which I do not have access. Is it theft?

A gift changes ownership; however, most police agencies may not consider this a theft and refuse to take a police report. They refer to these situations as civil not criminal matters.
