Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Arizona

Weight Discrimination

My husband was refused an airplane ride over the Grand Canyon because he weighs 300 pounds. Our daughter weighs 100. The weight limit per person was 250! The neighboring company allowed them both to ride with no problem. The first company decided they could let him ride, but would charge him double! He was humiliated beyond belief. He is over 6 feet tall. It ruined our Grand Canyon visit. I spoke with the representatives at the counter and they gave me the owners name and number and encouraged me to file a discrimination suit because they get embarrassed too! Isn't this a case for suing for discrimination?

Re: Weight Discrimination

Obese people are not a class of people

protected by the antidiscrimination laws,

although such discrimination is commonplace.

A creative local lawyer can likely think of a few

reasons to sue. Of course, a few good letters to editors might work as catharsis.

Wishing you the best,
