Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

A child needs peace

I am a grandmother of a 5 yr old little boy. My son(x)is his father. X is currently serving time in prison while an appeal(PCR)is processed. Its a matter of time & he will be released. His child needs help NOW. X is still married to the mother, but she is far from being a faithful. She is a heroin addict who refuses to get help. Shes a horrible mess but I have been helpless to rescue my grandson. I wouldnt give her money 6 months ago, so I was cut off from seeing my grandson(a frequent happening)In September, her mother FINALLY saw the light & got her daughter to let her take the child for awhile (not intending to return him to her until she saw major changes) She put my grandson in school(something mom wasnt doing)& hes adapting much needed structure. He now spends time with us. X has seen his son 3 times in the last 11/2 yrs.(wife wont visit & wont let child go with us)The childs mother is hostile towards her mother now for cutting off money(DES isnt enough anymore)& refusing access to her son. This week the child is with us(vacation)and we need legal intervention. His mom is looking for him. Other gramma is calling DES today.

Re: A child needs peace

There are a few options available to you, including seeking custody in the Family Court and/or seeking a "private dependency" in the Juvenile Court.

I can explain the procedures better by phone or in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via e'mail. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss the matter in more detail.

As far as costs, please know that our fees vary depending on your circumstances and needs. We charge $185.00 to $210.00 per hour. We charge $210.00 per hour, and typically require between $800.00 and $3,000.00 as a retainer/prepayment.

Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Alicia to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation.
