Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

In my divorce decree I am to pay my ex's car payment and insurance which are both in my name. I can't afford this anymore; since I am still paying for credit cards that she ran up. Is there anything I can do? She cheated on me and to hurry and divorce her I said that I would pay, she didn't even show up or sign anything. If not, what happens to me if I just stop paying and the car gets repossessed? It is soley in my name. Thanks for any assistance given.

You should NOT JUST STOP PAYING, if the final signed divorce decree requires to you to pay. You could end up in court and you'll have to do a lot of explaining to the Judge. If you cannot afford to pay the assigned debts, you may have to be the one to file to go back to Court. It sounds like the property wasn't really divided, if she's still driving a vehicle that's in your name. Did either of you have attorneys for the Divorce? I am a Family Law attorney working in Sierra Vista, Cochise County. I charge $75 as a flat rate for an initial consultation. I would want to review all the paperwork and documents in order to fully advise you. Give me a call to set an appointment (520) 507-2067.
