Legal Question in Product Liability in California

Was involved with an auto collision yesterday in which I was hit by a driver that ran the light and hit me almost head on. My truck, 2001 ford ranger xlt is a total lose. My question is this, My airbags did not deploy. The police and tow driver was shocked that after a collision at more then 50 mph that they did not go off. Do I have any legal recourse with Ford? I was not injured but feel that this is a safety issue that might be worthy to persue. What is your opinion and if you think I have something, which direction should I go forward with.

To pursue any legal claims, especially product liability, one of the key elements that you must have is "damage." Damage is measured by your injuries. Damage is also the key that you will base on to request a remedy, i.e, money damages. If you feel that this is a "public safety" issue and Ford should check on your car as well as other cars that manufactured at the same time with yours, you should take your car in for checking.

Vanmai is correct that you have no legal claim without damages caused by the problem. If you want to follow up on the safety issue, there is a process for filing reports/complaints with the Federal Highway Safety Admin. and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. I'm sure you can find how to do that on the web.
