Legal Question in Disability Law in California

Employee rights and discrimination.

I notified my employer of a chronic mental impairment( required in employment manual ),which does not adversely affect my job performance ( generalized anxiety disorder and depression ).I have been prescribed and have been taking legal, non narcotic anti-depressive medication. My employer ordered me, or face disiplinary action, to disclose the name of the medication. I disclosed the name as ordered. I asked the employer what was to be done with the information disclosed to them. I am stressed out trying to figure out what is going on ? Is this allowed ? Employer says thay have right to know.

Re: Employee rights and discrimination.

There are some ifs. If you are working with machinery or driving, and could be impaired by a drug, they might have a right to know.

However, if there is no claim that it could cause a problem for other employees or customers, I don't believe they can force you to identify the drug.
