Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

I am 16 years old. I would like to emancipate myself from my parents. I have been excepted to UCLA and I am graduating when I am seventeen years old. They will not give me consent to go to school at UCLA but instead would like me to stay at home for a year. I am going into medical school and would not like to take a gap year. I am an excelled student. I would be living on campus with a part time job. I have never been into any trouble and I have excelled through high school. I just want to go to college. What are my chances that I will be granted legal emancipation from my parents?

A minor over 14 can petition for emancipation. There are requirements including living apart, the ability to support yourself financially, etc.

As with everything in the law, you are always better off with an attorney's assistance. This may be a one-shot deal, so you have to do it right. This is not a project I would suggest taking on yourself.
