Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

appointed wrong

Was appointed Public Defender, but my case needed me to have an Appeals Lawyer, It is my right to have councel appointed to me, when I could not afford one, but shouldn't I've been appointed a lawyer that could handle my case ???

Re: appointed wrong

Your question is unclear. Was the Public defender appointed to handle your trial or the actual appeal of a conviction?

Re: appointed wrong

I don't understand why you think you needed an appellate lawyer. You are entitled to an appointed appellate lawyer when your case is in the Court of Appeal. Public defenders are appointed in cases that are in the trial court. If that is where your case was when the PD was appointed then I don't see a problem.

I suggest re-posting your question, and including additional facts to explain why you believe you should have been appointed a different type of attorney.
