Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

My brother and sister in law was divorced and have credit in both of their names; can my brother file bankruptcy in his name only?

Yes. Your former sister-in-law would then have sole responsibility for the debt if it is discharged for your brother.

In fact filing in his name only is the only way he can now file since he could no longer file with an ex wife.
