Legal Question in Business Law in California

Customer refused to accept our certified mail of payment demanding

The female customer come in to our nail salon for a service. Once completed, she wrote a check of $30.00 and provided the tips to her technician. For some reason, she had changed her mind and decided to stop the check payment.

We were suggested by this board to send a certified mail for demanding a payment in 10 days of receipt. The certified mail was returned back to us after 2 weeks. The address we used to send that certified mail is the same as the one printed on the personal check.

What do you think we should do next? Is it time to turn her in the Los Angeles DA? Even though we don't think that we should take her to a small claim court, but we really want her to have a lesson learned.

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

She didn't bounce the check, so the D.A.'s office isn't going to do anything. You can turn it over to a collection agency or you can take her to small claims. At least a small claims jdugment would show up on her credit rating.
