Legal Question in Business Law in California

Tow/storage co's Liability for theft of personal property

I rented a Uhaul trailer. Uhaul towed the truck with my belongings, and cut the lock on the truck and stored my property in their storage unit. No one could tell me where it was stored. I finally received a notice in the mail. When I went to pay for and retrieve my property, I discovered many of my belongings were missing. Uhaul was the only one with access to the property. Don't they have insurance to cover that, other than the liablity insurance for the truck (i.e. the insurance for accidents etc. while driving the vehicle). The claim form they sent me has a $5,000 limit for personal property. Shouldn't this claim be covered under a different policy? What can I do to be compensated for my losses? The missing property is valued well over $5,000.

there must have been a inventory, hopefully a complete, every single item inventory signed by you as well as uhaul before they took your goods -- that is not enough -- this happens all, all the time and wile there is insurance they will fight you all the way even thought you did nothing wrong. you need reciepts and proof of purchase, or when you acquired the items because they are not worth as much as when you bought them new, the operative word is new --- in over 30 years it vae had clients on numbers of occasions who have had u-haul problems -- if you wish to call me i will be happy to tell you what you need -- 510-465-6000
