Legal Question in Technology Law in California

Cameras at work

I work in a restaurant where there are cameras every where. The problem is that besides being watch 24 hours, being recorded where they can see everything, now the owner can watch what we are doing from his home, from the internet box that he install. Is that legal? Can he watch us from the internet? Isn't that violating our privacy. He can watch us everywhere at anytime.

Re: Cameras at work

Anywhere that you have a reasonable expectation of privacy is protected. Unfortunately, that has been narrowed by case-law to just about restroom stalls, or dressing rooms. Obviously it is uncomfortable to be under a control freak's eye and you may have a worker's compensation claim for stress if it becomes unbearable.
