Legal Question in Technology Law in California

Software Training Video

I am planning to create a software training video for a software program. I have two questions 1. Do I have to pay software royalties or have any monetary obligation to the software creator that my training video will pertiain to? 2. Can I use the images, icons for that software anywhere in my video? Your response is appreciated.

Re: Software Training Video

You must license any use of the copyright owner's intellectual property. If you were able to create a training video that did not include any copyrightable aspects, then you might not owe anything.

More likely, you want to use screengrabs or other things that would incorporate protected material. In order to do that, you would have to agree to a license, find some Fair Use justification, or be in violation.

Are you looking for someone that can negotiate a license on your behalf?
