Legal Question in Construction Law in California

I have a commercial building that is 9 years old and the roof is leaking. Is there a minimum for a roof warranty in California.

Generally speaking, the statute of limitations for construction defect is 10 years from date of completion, or a much shorter time-frame from the date you discovered the defect - whichever is shorter. If you just recently discovered the defect then you may still have time to assert a claim. You also have to prove that it is a defect or the result of a defect in the construction of the building. Roofs generally have a much longer useful life than 9 years, though certain types of roof construction utilized in commercial buildings have shorter life-spans. I would suggest hiring an attorney who specializes in construction defect. Let them investigate whether or not there is an actionable defect - most construction defect attorneys operate on a contingency fee, meaning they don't get paid unless there is a recovery.
