Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Credit Union billing time limit

The Credit Union is located in WA, so I'm not sure if CA law or WA law would apply--however, is there a time limit that a Credit Union can bill you for alleged visa/cash withdrawals? Can I demand proof of these alleged charges? More than a year has gone by, and they began digging up old charges in which I have no recollection of making.

They are required under Cal Law to give you 30 days notice of your right to dispute the debt (Cal Law applies if you used the credit card in CAl). If they did not do this you can sue them. You have a right to dispute the validity of the debt and require them to seek verification of the debt and to give that verification to you. They cannot continue collection efforts unitil they can verifiy the debt. If you need my help, email me.
