Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Am I responsible for charges that I was not told of?

My dentist performed some work on me worth $600.00. They failed to tell me that my insurance did not cover it and that it would come out of my pocket. I've had $3000.00 worth of work done in the past. In that sitution, they let me know of my charges and I arrangenged to pay for the work prior to doing the work. However, this time around, they sent me a bill. When I questioned it, I was told that they could not tell whether they had let me know of the charges or not becuase time had past, but insured me that I was stil responsible for the charges. Am I responsible or not?

Yes, you are responsible to pay the charges. The services are a contract between you and the dentist. You are responsible even if the insurance company doesn't fully pay for the charges.
