New vehicle side swiped on freeway by big rig

Big rig truck side-swiped new Chevy Tahoe on freeway-other driver's fault. Two weeks prior just traded in my used vehicle for the Tahoe. Damage from accident will reduce value of Tahoe about $13,000.and will effect trade-in value in future. I want a new Tahoe or $cash compenstion for this but insurance company says that they will fix damage and anything else I will have to pusue on my own legally -??

Is that true? If so, what are my options? What avenues of recourse do I have ? Do I file a suit against the other driver, his insurance co., my insurance co.,the chevrolet dealer?? I don't know what to do and none of the above mentioned possibilities will answer my questions.

Thank you! Oh, this is about my Dad's truck-he is age 79 and quite upset, so I am trying to help him find some info.

You should first contact the other driver's insurance company to see if they'll pay without the need for litigation. Many times they will if you are reasonable in your demands. They may try to take advantage of you if you don't have a lawyer. If they don't pay, you will need to sue the other driver. Let us know if we can help.
