Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

We had credit card debt due to loss of income and other circumstances.

The debt was 'written off' by the bank, but their attorney was successful in getting judgement against us. Our bank accounts were levied (several thousands of $).

The judgement, includes the original debt, plus several thousand $s in legal fees and interest.

We just received a letter from the attorney, stating that the funds levied are used to offset additional interest accrued on the debt since the judgement was entered - efectively we now owe more than the judgement.
