Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

my girl friend had a credit card collection company call her work. when the employee that answered the phone told the collection rep that she was not in.he told the employee that she was being sued by a credit card co and that she needed to return a call to the collection company as soon as possible.is the rep from the collector legally allowed to give that info about my girl friend to an employee at her work? thanks for your time.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act outlines fair collection practices. If this was a collection agency that the law apples to, no they cant talk to third parties and give out that kind of info. Your girlfriend needs to get an attorney
