Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

In the presence of two witnesses, my dad verbally agreed to pay off all my students loans that he co-signed. Now he isn't paying at all and they're coming after me. Do I have any legal recourse to make him pay the loans?

Co-signing means agree to pay jointly. If he co-signed, then you don't need witnesses.
