Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Can I Sue Attorney for not payin ghis client's bills?

I am a physician. I took care of a patient involved in a motor vehicle accident. The patient never paid his bill. The hospital was paid by his attorney through an insurance settlement. The attorney refused to pay me, ignored my calls and was abusive to my staff. I want to take the patient and attorney to small claims court. Can I do this?

It depends. Did you have the attorney sign a lien? If so, then you have a cause of action and can sue the attorney.

You can, of course, sue your patient for failure to pay the bill. However, do not be surprised if you get a malpractice cross-complaint.

I would be happy to speak with you about this or any other legal matter.
