Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

This case involves a homicide in Pleasant Valley State Prison.I am trying to obtain the Prison incident report, police records, homicide reports, and the autopsy reports. The case is being handled by the Fresno, California Sherrifs Department . I was told by the detective and the Assistant Coroner handling this case. They will not release any of these documents because of the fear of the news media becomming involved. Should I contact a public news media such as Channel 3 News and explain my quandry? I have only a limited amount of time to reply for the V.C.G.C.B. program. I was also told no lawer will accept this case without an autopsy report which by law cannot be released untill the case has ended. Can they do this legally and what ae my options? Thank You for your free legal help . .

You've left out some important information. To start with, who are you? Are you the suspect, a friend/relative of the suspect, a friend/relative of the victim, etc.? Have charges been filed? If so, what were they? Has the defendant been arraigned? How far has the case progressed? There is no way we can offer any guidance without these basic facts.
