Misdemeanor -- an offense with a maximum penalty of a year or less in custody. Vehicle Code �2800.2, evading the police with willful or wanton disregard for public safety, is a "wobbler" that can be charged as a felony or a misdemeanor. It appears the District Attorney elected to file this particular case as a misdemeanor, instead of a felony that carries up to three years.
