Not enough information. Depends on the facts and your prior criminal record if any. Certainly you will not have to go to jail (or forego future employment opportunities) unless you are convicted. If at all possible, make sure you are not convicted.

A guilty plea or conviction of a crime always means potential jail or prison. That is the very definition of 'crime'. Your 'felon in possession' charges may carry mandatory prison time under both state and federal law. You could be charged in both court systems at the same time, and sentenced to prison by each court.

Your attorney may be able to negotiate a 'plea bargain' without jail or prison time, but that depends upon all the facts, evidence, law, etc., available in your defense, your rap sheet, and the attitude of the DA and court. If you are in SoCal courts, and are serious about hiring counsel to represent you in this, feel free to contact me. .
