Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I'm a 17 year old male and I was pulled over for having to many people in my car at the club. The officer right away assumed I was under the influence but I refused to take any tests. My friends had alcohol on them but in the back seat. The containers were open and my friends admitted it was theirs and I had no knowledge of them being open in the car. The officers let them go, towed my car and took me in the station and I was released that night. Me and my grandfather went back the next day and got the car and they took my license and gave me a 30 day license. I have a court date in 2 months, what should I be expecting to happen???

Defend the criminal charges, just like every other defendant has to do. Go to court, enter your not guilty plea if appropriate, arrange bail or OR, set up and attend your court hearing[s] and trial date, file your motions as applicable, go to trial if you can't resolve it with a plea bargain. There is no magic wand to wave and make it all disappear. If you don't know how to do these things, then hire an attorney that does. If serious about doing so, feel free to contact me.

You are looking at some pretty serious consequences because of your age and the fact that you refused the tests. Your driver's license may be suspended for more than a year. But you only have 10 days FROM THE DATE OF YOUR ARREST to take some action at the DMV or you lose substantial rights. Even though court is not for a couple of months, you must move on this quickly because of the 10 day rule. Call me for a free consultation if you'd like to get serious about dealing with this immediately. Good luck. Steve Mandell 301 393 0639
