If I got a DUI in 1997 would I loose my second amendment rights

Without knowing all the information related to your case, I can't provide a specific answer to your question. Generally speaking, in California, if the DUI is alcohol related and is only a misdemeanor, that conviction does not trigger a 10 year prohibition from possessing a firearm.
