Legal Question in DUI Law in California

MY licence was revoked in 1987 and suspended in 1990 for 3rd time drunk driving i paid my fines did 6 months in jail then they wanted me to do 36 months of classes i didnt do the classes, 20 years went by during that time i got another licence from a person working for the dmv all i had to do was take a driving test i dropped my middle name and changed my address i had my birth record everything was fine for 20 years. drivng record was perfect no tickets good driving record from my insurance co.the dmv sent a letter to my insurance co. stating that i was driving on a suspended licence so they cancelled me i found out that the dmv wants me to do sb -38 program is that 1yr. or 18 mos. what i want to know do u think i can get a restricted licence driving back & forth to my doctors visits and taking my grandkids to school ect. I am 60 yrs. old now and i do need to drive pls. help me?

You can request whatever you like from them. You're dealing with a govt bureaucracy that makes its own rules and procedures. Yes, it is possible that you could get a restricted license. If they say you have specified things you must do to get one, you'll have to either do what they demand, or you can try to 'appeal' and seek a hearing on the issue if they deny you.
