Legal Question in DUI Law in California

marijuana DUI

i was recently pulled over because i didnt have working tail lights... when the officer pulled me over he said he smelled marijuana, there was no marijuana in the car nor did i smoke marijana in the car earlier, he searched the car but did not find and marijuana or paraphonila, however there was an open botltle of alcohol. i had not drank at all that night and was never asked to take a breathalizer. the officer then gave me a soberiety test that i thought i did OK on... but later on he told me that i had trouble balancing. i then spent the night in custody and was released in the morning... is there any hope for me... please tell me i am 18 and i really need my license to go to work and school

If you were arrested for DUI, you have only 10 days to appeal the automatic license suspension from DMV. You will need to properly handle the court charges to avoid conviction and potential jail. Unless you are willing to go to trial on the charges, you will typically have your attorney negotiate a plea bargain on terms you can live with.
