Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Misdemeanors in California

How Long do they stay on your record? I got one in 1986 for DUI and I am worried about employment background check.

Records are forever. Some convictions can be 'expunged' to help with employment, DUI's can not; they will show in a background check, as will all convictions. They count as priors for 10 years.

Your record is permanent. Expungement of DUI's are a possibility depending on the county. My office handles these routinely in the San Diego area.

If you would like to discuss this further, or discuss whether or not your conviction could possibly be expunged please let me know at your earliest convenience.
