Legal Question in Education Law in California

Pornographic images in College Classroom

What exactly are the rules about

what college professors can show to

students? My Professor has shown a

documentary in the past which was

rather explicit in regards to nudity.

We also watched ''The Wall'' by Pink

Floyd which has shockingly graphic

sex scenes.

Re: Pornographic images in College Classroom

Under the doctrine of academic freedom, this type of content is likely okay, especially for a university-age student. You may have a "case" if the course is required and there are no other options to take in order to complete a degree other than this course. Your university may have a procedure for rating professors as a means of expressing your displeasure. If this instructor is non-tenured, your "comments" to the dean or dept. chair may impact subsequent contracts for this instructor.
