Legal Question in Family Law in California

Disability and Spousal Support

I am male with significant pain disease causing disability since '99. Only have SS as my own income (approx $1500/mo). My wife of 10 years is now saying she can't handle being with me - it's just not 'fun' for her anymore. She makes about 85K/year. We own a home, with $200,000 equity (value less owed.) I am curious how the courts would handle this case, and what my chances are for spousal support. I can't possibly make payments on the existing home with my income, or even afford an appt. as I and my close family live in the Bay Area. I need my family to help me manage house upkeep, etc. I spend most of my day on my back, but can sit up or stand up for short spurts. Thanks.

Re: Disability and Spousal Support

A 10 year marriage is defined as a lengthy marriage. Spousal support continues until the supported spouse is able to adequately support her/himself. Spousal support is based on your need and her ability to pay support.
