Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce

I have been married for 6 years now being a housewife and I'm wanting a divorce. My question is will I be able to receive spousal support, health benefits or anything?

Re: Divorce

You could ask for spousal support. If there are children you would receive child support. Health benefits would cease after the marriage is dissolved. COBRA is available, that is you may continue the health insurance the covered you during the marriage, but you would have to pay the entire premium for the insurance. You should start either looking for a job or starting an educational program that will result in job skills. Spousal support will end after some reasonable period of time to allow you to find employment. The goal would be to end spousal support in three years, 1/2 the length of the marriage.
