Legal Question in Family Law in California

I filed for a divorce from my husband. He said he signed the papers, but when I went to get a copy, he had not signed and I was told that we were still married. We had both remarried, and he is now deceased. Am I or was I still legally married to him and how would I straighten out my non-legal marriage where my non legal husband and I are seperated? Thank you for your time.

I would love to assist you. Unfortunately this issue truly lends itself to a

more in depth legal consultation. Feel free to contact my office to schedule an appointment via telephone or in office. I can tell you that for purposes of the separation/divorce of your second "marriage", the court will likely treat you as a putative spouse affording you similar rights and responsibilities that accompany a traditional divorce. Best of luck!
