Legal Question in Family Law in California

my husband owes child support arrears. we plan to file our taxes together. i understand that we will forfeit any tax return to pay down his debt. that's fine. but he is insisting that once i am identified as his wife that my wages will be garnished to pay the arrears. is this true?

No. Joint accounts can be garnished, but not your paycheck.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. They can't garnish your wages. To protect your wages, the law allows you to place them into an account that your husband has no withdrawal rights to.
