There are two types of joint custody. One is joint legal custody and the other is joint physical custody. Joint legal custody means that you and the other parent decide together major health education and welfare decisions for the children. Actual timeshare or joint physical custody is a roughly equal time share of the children. Each family system is very different concerning the children's needs and the court always looks at the timeshare from a child focused analysis. Please meet with an experienced family law attorney to assist you in determining your best options.
