Legal Question in Family Law in California

I live in California and I was served with divorce papers for my brother. I have been estranged from my brother as I believe most of my family are too. I have no idea where he is, so I can't even contact him to let him know. My brother has never lived with me and I am really not sure it is legal for them to serve me with his papers. Although my brother and I don't speak, I don't want him to get a contempt charge or lose future parental rights because they served me. Is this legal for them to serve me, and if not how can I communicate this to the court?

I'd write a letter to the attorney for the party that served you, and point out all of the above. Then find out how to let your brother know there is a case going on. He should seek legal advice.
