Live in Mississippi need California divorce

I am now living in Mississippi and my ex-wife lives in California, we are getting a divorce and I need to know if I have to file for divorce in California or can I file in Mississippi? No children involved, no spousal support involved. We have actually been separated for over 8 years, she is now wanting to remarry, I thought we were already divorce but she says the final papers were never filed.

You may file in Mississippi as long as you have been a resident of this state for six months or longer. You and your wife could even file for a joint complaint for divorce. As long as you both agree on everything, it should be somewhat inexpensive and take 60-90 days for the divorce to be final after the complaint is filed.
