Legal Question in Family Law in California

Married 20 years, my husband recently was able to close joint checking accounts, refinance the house in only his name, and pay bills in his name only. Can he do hhis? Can he just change accounts and everything is his? He says he is filing for divorce but seems to be ensuring he gets it all first. Is there any way to make him pay the other bills in my name, used for household?

Yes, file for divorce first and get an order that the funds be used for joint expenses and debts.

As soon as you file and serve your petition for divorce, the court issues automatic temporary restraining orders on utilization of property assets and liabilities. You have a lot to lose here if you don't act quickly. Please meet with an experienced family law attorney to explore your legal options.
