Legal Question in Family Law in California

Stepfather manipulated legal paperwork to obtain custody of my child

I am a victim of domestic violence and relocated to California. It was important to me to have medical care for my baby girl. I asked my step-father for assistance. He agreed to allow her to receive medical benefits through his insurance. For this to take place he said he had to be her legal guardian, however, a binding attachment stated I was not giving up my parental rights. The paperwork was explained to me and it was notarized. After filing through the courts I was informed that I no longer had custodial of my daughter and that my rights are suspended. I was not present nor did I agree to this. He has stolen my daughter and I can only see her at his convenience. Please help me get my daughter back. She is my life.

You need to immediately contact an attorney and file a motion to set aside the guardianship petition. Move quickly as the longer you wait the more difficult it will be to convince the court that you were duped. If you cannot affor an attorney then contact the local bar association ofr help in finding free legal represenation.
