can i be sue for placing a restraining order?

i want to place a restraining order on my abusive ex. i warned him to leave me alone or i'll file a restraining order. he threaten me if i did that, he'll sue me for slander and make sure that i'll lose everything i have and own. Is this possible?

if i did place a restaint, what legal harm can come to me from the restain person?

i'm afraid to go thru this. he claims to have connection and power to back him up. and i know he's capable of doing something. because this man a lawyer himself. plz help!!
