Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

If someone wont tell you their new address how can you serve them?

A former friend owes me money for getting his car out of repo. However, since then he was move and changed his phone number and not informed me of the new ones. As I understand it I cannot serve him without knowing his street address. I know his email, po box, and address of a friend of his. Is there any legal action I can take to make him or his friend tell me his current address so I can serve him?

Depending how much money is involved, if you were to file a lawsuit in superior court (as opposed to small claims court), you could subpoena the testimony of the friend to answer questions under oath.

You could also request in writing that the P.O. provide you with the street address if connected to a lawsuit. Please let me know if I could help.
