Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Hello i lived with my boyfriend for six years and had a baby with him, when our baby was three he proposed to me, we planned the wedding and everything all so he could cancel it the day before... i realize this may be a bit mean of me. but is there some way i could sue him for the years he took of my life, his lying and the final ultimate humiliation of leaving me standing at the altar with a baby? my question is not regarding child custody, it is regarding pain and humiliation that he caused me and indirectly our child. i live in california.

Sue yourself for your poor judgment in shacking up with him and giving him the best years of your life. It should have been obvious after a year that he wasn't that into you. Surely you have sued him for paternity and child support by now. If not, what are you waiting for?

You could try suing for intentional infliction of emotional distress, but unless you have physical manifestation of symptoms, or a great psychiatric expert witness, you won't get very far. Emotional distress has to be well over and above mere embarassment, sadness and humiliation. It has to cause psychological damage before a suit can be successful. Personally I like Mr. Stone's idea to stick him for all the child support you can get.
